03.08.2023 – What a wonderful trail this was, one of the most beautiful I’ve ever done.

There is not much to put into words; maybe: Actions speak louder than words. That’s how it was this time in Uri, too.
My tour started in Isleten, on the Lake of Uri, up towards and over Schartihöreli, then down to Hinter Wang and Neiberg in the Kleintal valley, and then over Musenalp all uphill to Uri Rotstock (2’928 asl). What happened up there was indescribable. A weather and nature spectacle, as it happens only outdoors in nature. Behind me was the Rot Gitschen, whose peak peaked out of the clouds; in front of me was the pyramid in red rock, the Uri Rotstock. After the ascent followed the descent via Biwaldalp to St. Jakob in the Grosstal valley.
The tour is about 3’000m uphill and 2’500m downhill.
From this experience you draw memories for days, weeks, months, if not years…

I will be back soon! Thank you, Isenthal, and thank you, Uri!

What a life experience it was!

The Scottish landscape is very diverse. The weather definitively makes it spicy.

If you get the opportunity to hike the West Highland Way, take action! It’s a 154 km trek, which brings you to some exciting places, and at the end you have the chance to go uphill for Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. For some inspiration, check out my YouTube channel under playlists Scotland 2023.

I will soon post some pictures and updates about the trip. In the meantime, stay curious!

The heart-filling feeling during a morning run in the forest, the full feeling of your breath.

The complete immersion in nature.

The more you feel your pulse, the pulse of life, the calmer you become.

Priceless

Grateful!

The Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the east of Germany have always attracted me, as they are exciting to me historically. So, I decided to visit the region for three days without further ado.

The visit to Dresden was more than enriching because of the history and the beautiful buildings, especially the churches.

The hiking and running in the mountains of Saxon Switzerland were very varied. With cloudy weather and light snowfall, I spent 1.5 days in the region and was fascinated by the diversity and bizarre rock formations. It was like a mixture of several US national parks (Bryce Canyon, Arches, Monument Valley, and Joshua Tree) in a winter landscape. You can see the contrast on my YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/@lukasstahli/featured

I definitely recommend visiting and immersing yourself in the region. Enjoy!

It was my first time in the sub-Saharan region, which was special. I had already traveled to the southern hemisphere three times before but in Oceania.

The plant and animal diversity was phenomenal, and the contrast with Norway was great. The highlights for me were, besides the famous places like Cape Town with Table Mountain and Cape of Good Hope, Stellenbosch, the Garden Route with the Tsitsikamma National Park, the Drakensberg, the National Parks, especially Kruger National Park, and the Panoramic Route with the God’s Window, the Blyde River Canyon and the Mac-Mac Falls. With four safaris, the trip was also really bushy at the end. The two smaller countries were also fascinating because completely different.

The other side of the coin is the many visible environmental impacts, especially plastic waste, and the monocultures. There we have to think seriously as citizens of the earth. If you like short videos, my personal YouTube channel shows some insights: https://www.youtube.com/@lukasstahli/featured

Overall, Southern Africa was more than worth a trip – Thank you!

My friends, it’s time for the southern hemisphere. This is where the water area dominates, and the big five are at home. I’ll not be able to blog during my time in South Africa, and I’ll update you at the end of March 2023 after my return.

Till then, have a great time and enjoy the end of winter and the beginning of spring!

Anticipation is one of the most beautiful feelings. Why? Because we are excited about what lies ahead. For me, it’s Africa now, South Africa, to be precise. It will be my first time in the southern part of the African continent.

I’ll keep you updated about my next adventure! Stay curious!

In upper school, I had to read a book and give a presentation, and I held a shy presentation about the life of a moose in Lappland, close to Kiruna, Sweden. Now, as I’m curving through the snowy forest landscape of Norway, I remember that story, which calms me immensely.

It’s usually the little stories that are the most precious!

On & off track

The place is magical. It’s in the middle of three national parks, although Norway is a whole national park.

Sometimes, pictures and videos say more than words. Here are some inspiring web pages and videos of where I am and what I’m surrounded with:
