Standing desk – indispensable

There are many things an employer / employee can do to create a more pleasant working environment. A standing desk is one of the best ways to support employee health and wellbeing in the workplace. In my opinion, it is absolutely key for a good work environment, particularly if you work mostly in a sitting position at a desk. Although there may be some debate about the exact health benefits, I believe that regular use of a standing desk definitely has a positive impact on overall health and productivity.

For me, the main benefits of a standing desk are the following:

  • Opens up the whole body and improves posture.
  • Helps strengthen particularly core, leg (especially anterior and posterior thigh muscles), ankle and foot muscles.
  • Reduces back pain.
  • Helps with wrist position.
  • Keeps circulation going.
  • Boosts focus and mood.
  • Incentivizes other movements and provides help for full body rotation.
